ROM Survey

To get an idea of how our members use their PCs and their preferences for software, we devised a six question survey. It asks what operating system you use, what hardware you own, what you use your PC for, what web browser you use, your ISP and what Anti Virus software you use.

Conclusions

  • Windows XP is the most popular operation system, with just under half of the users surveyed.
  • The most common items owned are a Desktop PC, scanner, digital camera and inkjet printer.
  • The least owned items are a laser printer and an older type of printer.
  • Just over half of the users surveyed use Internet Explorer to browse the web.
  • Word processing, photo editing, email, browsing the web and buying products online are the most popular uses.
  • Norton is still the most popular anti virus product, but only just, with Avast and AVG joint second.
